A composite door is the best choice for longevity and easy upkeep, due to its low-maintenance nature. To keep your door lasting and in a tip top condition, a few minutes a month is all it needs. Here are our top three tips to keep your composite door looking as good as new:
A quick clean
Regularly wiping your door and frame over with some soap and water can make all the difference and stop build up of any dirt or grime. To clean the frames and panels of your composite doors, all you need is a soft sponge and warm soapy water. This can be created using normal hand soap or washing up liquid. Clean all around the frame and panels to remove grit and grime. This can build up over time and cause problems when the door opens and closes. Finally, dry the surface with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals and solvents. They have the potential to damage the door.
Polish the hardware
You want to keep the handles, door knocker, hinges, letterbox and all other hardware polished and shiny. This enables your door to stand out. You need to use a clean cloth and a mild soap or detergent. Don’t use a strong cleaning agent as it will damage the finish of the hardware. Wipe it clean with a dry wadding cloth and buff to a shine.
Polish the external glass
We always make sure our windows are clean, so why not spend a little time on the small glass panes in our doors? You can also clean these with warm water and a soft cloth. As well as this, the external glass can be cleaned with a traditional glass cleaner. Once the dirt is removed and you can see through the glass, you can finish the windows with a little glass cleaner for shine.
Composite door maintenance is minimal in comparison to the other available materials such as wood which needs annual treatment. Keeping the appearance and functionality of your composite door by comparison, is extremely easy!
