Choosing
Do you have a showroom?
Visit Hainault Home Improvements at 593–595 New North Road, Hainault, Essex, IG6 3XS. Call 0208 559 9145 to confirm visiting times.
Can someone help me choose?
Yes. Browse the door styles online, or contact the HHI team for help comparing the finishes and fittings. You can also visit the showroom.
Which options can I choose?
Standard predefined doors offer the listed supplier colours, a lever handle or finger pull, gold or chrome hardware, and an optional letterbox and knocker with spyhole. Glazed styles offer clear or obscure sandblasted glass. Fire doors require their own approved specification.
How does the handle lock?
A lever handle is operated by hand. The existing shop describes lifting the handle to engage the locking points, then turning the key. Our doors come with the Yale Lockmaster locking system; ask the installer to show you yours at handover.
How does a finger pull work?
A finger pull is a fixed grip, not a lever. On solid core doors fitted with contemporary hardware, the GU Slam Lock (the Winkhaus AV2 system) engages its bolts the moment the door closes; a turn of the key bolts it from inside and opens it from outside. A finger pull alone does not show which lock your door has, so HHI confirms it at your survey, before your door is made.
Which cylinder and how many keys are included?
Our doors come with the Yale Lockmaster: Yale’s cylinder and platinum handle combination, accredited with the TS007 3* BSI Kitemark. The Ultion Sold Secure Diamond cylinder (TS007 3 star) is available as an option. You get 3 keys as standard: they are high-security keys that a locksmith cannot cut, and your key card lets you order more online securely.
Are standard doors fire rated?
A standard composite door is not a fire door. Fire doors must be specified and installed as a complete approved doorset. HHI must confirm the applicable fire, smoke, hardware and installation requirements for the property.
Ordering and paying
How do I order a predefined door?
Choose your style, colour, fittings and glass, then review the specification and postcode. HHI confirms the quotation before payment.
How do I continue from the door designer?
When you finish, press the designer's last button and send us your details. You can then save a PDF of your design, and HHI will confirm your price.
What are the payment stages?
The agreed schedule is a 25% deposit when you accept the contract and the balance on completion, which HHI collects directly by SumUp payment link or bank transfer. The website must use an authorised quotation to calculate payments. Custom final pricing may still need confirmation.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Contact HHI as soon as possible with your order reference. A cancellation request puts the order on hold for review; it does not automatically mean that a refund has been approved. The team will confirm the next step under your agreed terms.
Survey and fitting
Who measures and fits the door?
HHI measures the opening at survey and supplies the door with its outer frame. The fitting service includes removal and disposal of the old doorset. Confirm access and any work around the opening with the team.
Which areas do you cover?
We fit across London and the home counties. Our area reaches Leighton Buzzard, Luton and Braintree to the north, Colchester, Southend and the Isle of Sheppey to the east, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Crawley to the south, and Guildford, Alton, Reading and High Wycombe to the west. When you review your door, enter your postcode and we will tell you straight away whether we cover it. If you are near the edge of our area, call 0208 559 9145 and the team will confirm.
When will my door arrive and be fitted?
Once your survey has been completed, the estimated manufacturing lead time is approximately 4 weeks, or approximately 6 weeks for a fire door. As soon as your new door is ready, our team will contact you to arrange a convenient installation date.
Guarantee and care
What guarantee will I receive?
Every installation comes with HHI’s guarantee and a 10 year insurance backed warranty from HomePro, alongside FENSA certification. Under HHI’s terms, once full payment is made, that is 10 years on frame products, 5 years on glass products, 5 years on dark wood and oak finish composite doors and 3 years on locks, handles, hinges and other moving parts, provided they are maintained and lubricated as the manufacturer recommends; commercial, rental and supply only orders carry 12 months’ parts and labour. The terms set out what is covered and what is not.
How should I maintain my door?
Follow the care instructions supplied for your door, finish and hardware. Ask HHI before applying lubricants, solvents or abrasive products. Contact the team if the lock becomes stiff or the door does not close correctly.
