Fire doors, tested and certified.

Where each door can be used, and how to look after it.

The Hybrid 2 Panel 1 Square fire door in Chartwell Green, with a glass top panel and a letter plate
Hybrid 2 Panel 1 Square in Chartwell Green: Door-Stop’s own picture, with the letter plate that comes with it added.

All ten of our fire doors are supplied by Door-Stop International. What this page says about them comes from Door-Stop’s own documents.

What FD30S means.

Door-Stop’s doorsets are FD30S fire doorsets: certified for 30 minutes’ fire integrity, and tested for cold smoke leakage.

A fire door only works when it is closed, so each one comes with a closer, which must never be removed or disengaged.

They are tested to BS 476: Part 22 or BS EN 1634-1:2014, and for smoke leakage to BS EN 1634-3.

Tested, then certified.

Door-Stop’s fire doorsets are tested and certified by independent third parties.

Certifire
Fire certification under Warringtonfire’s Certifire scheme: certificate CF5906 for a fire doorset, or CF5863 for a fire and security doorset.
Certisecure and Secured by Design
A fire and security doorset is also certified to PAS 24:2016 under Warringtonfire’s Certisecure scheme, certificate CS5112, and is accredited by Secured by Design.

Every fire door we supply is FD30S certified and Secured by Design. Secured by Design lists Door-Stop’s PAS24-FD30 Dual Certificated Apartment Entrance Timber Doorset Range as dual certified for fire and security.

Before you order, ask HHI for the certificate that covers your exact door.

You can get the certificate and data sheet for a doorset from the Certifire register.

One certified doorset.

The frame, intumescent seals, glass, smoke seals and fittings such as the letterplate, lock, hinges and eye viewer are all part of the certified doorset.

Door-Stop describes the frame as a low maintenance UPVC outer skin with sustainable sourced timber core reinforcement.

Any alteration, including to the fittings, invalidates the certification. That is why each of our fire doors comes complete, with nothing to choose but its colour.

Its glass cannot be replaced on site without invalidating the certification.

Where each door can be used.

Door-Stop certifies them as apartment entrance doorsets: single doors that open inwards or outwards, for inside or outside use.

Solid doors

Door-Stop declares its unglazed doorsets without a toplight for resistance to fire: integrity and insulation (EI1 30).

Glazed doors

Door-Stop declares its glazed doorsets for resistance to fire: integrity (E 30).

Which of these a door needs is set by the building’s specification, not by Door-Stop.

In a block of flats, ask your landlord, freeholder or managing agent what your door needs before you order.

Fitting and looking after it.

Door-Stop’s doorsets must be installed strictly in accordance with the certificate, data sheet and installation instructions, by a competent installer.

Door-Stop recommends a full inspection by a competent person at least every three months. Between inspections, check that:

  • the traceability labels are not damaged or missing
  • the door closes tightly against the frame seals on all edges
  • the red intumescent seals around the frame show no damage
  • the hinges are fixed tightly
  • the door latches from any angle
  • the key turns smoothly in the lock

Report any concerns about a fire door to your landlord or building owner straight away.

Replacing an older door? The government’s fire door guidance says the absence of any form of certification for a door does not imply that it is unfit for purpose.
